Investment strategy

The second fund of funds of venture capital, named FoF Venture Capital, have been launched by FII in 2014 and its size is equal to 163 millions of Euro.

Investment targets are closed-end funds of venture capital which in turn decided to invest in start-up, from seed to growthcapital.

The investments selection from FII’s team take place inside funds managed by experienced professionals also able to promote projects with long-term horizons.

Today the Fund, have subscribed quotas of 5 funds of venture capital active on the national territory.

Luigi Tommasini is a Senior Partner at Fondo Italiano d'Investimento SGR since November 2010. Luigi has significant experience in the private equity sector, and before joining the Fondo Italiano team in November 2010, as one of its first members, he was a member of the funds -of -funds team of AXA Private Equity (private equity-focused global investor with over EUR 20 billion of assets under management at their London office where he was in charge of identifying, concluding and managing investments with a commitment in private equity funds of over EUR 1 billion in both primary (new funds) and secondary markets. Luigi has served on several advisory boards of Italian and foreign funds and has been a member of the investment committee of the AXA Private Equity small buyout/expansion fund. Before joining AXA Private Equity he worked for Apax Partner (at their London and Milan offices) focusing on company acquisitions in Europe and in the retail sector. Luigi began his career as a management consultant for McKinsey&Company at their offices in Milan, São Paulo (Brazil) and San Francisco (USA) and was a summer associate at Goldman Sachs' London office, working in the M&A division. Luigi graduated with honours from the Bocconi University in Milan and obtained a MBA (Palmer Scholar) from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and an MA in International Studies from the Lauder Institute of the University of Pennsylvania.

Cristina Bini is a Partner at Fondo Italiano d'Investimento SGR since September 2014. Before that, Cristina gained more than 15 years of experience in the italian venture capital field, starting her career in 1999 in Pino Venture Partners, advisor to Kiwi I (€ 100 Million) and Kiwi II (Euro 500 Million) funds, both with a focus on ICT and new media sectors. Lately Cristina joined the team of Finlombarda Gestioni SGR SpA, serving for several years in relation to Next, a private/public venture capital fund of fund, dedicated to indirect investments in high tech start-ups. Cristina graduated in Business Administration at the Bocconi University in Milan.

Simona Corno is an Investment Manager at Fondo Italiano d’Investimento SGR since June 2015. Previously, from 2008 to 2015, she worked in the investment team of Euromed fund, a Venture Capital fund, focused on North Africa and Middle East, managed by Finlombarda Gestioni SGR SpA. During her experience in Euromed Fund, Simona has been involved in the analysis, selection and closing of the investment opportunities and the monitoring of the portfolio of the fund. Simona graduated in Economics for markets and enterprises at the Catholic University of Milan with a thesis on the development of Venture Capital in emerging markets, also undertaking two internships at UNIDO offices in Jordan and Tunisia.

Giacomo Valentini is an Investment Manager at Fondo Italiano d'Investimento SGR since August 2014. Previously, from 2010 to 2014 he worked in TTVenture, Venture Capital fund (€64 million in asset under management) specialized in technology transfer, managed by Quadrivio Capital. During his experience in TTVenture, Giacomo has been involved in the analysis, selection and closing of several investment opportunities in Italian startups. In particular, he followed investments of companies operating in the digital industry, acting also as a board member. Giacomo graduated in Business Administration from the Bocconi University in Milan attending also a summer school at Harvard University in Cambridge, MA. He also completed a post graduate master in Business Strategy and Entrepreneurship at SDA Bocconi.
